As you probably know by now, the Holmes manuscript revelations on the Zenopus Archives Blog have set up a mini-earthquake in the BLUEHOLME™ Compleat Rules. Now that things (including my Xmas dinner) have had a chance to settle somewhat, the revisions to my rules are taking shape. One of the primary changes is, of course, on classes. In addition to expanded rules on multi-classing and character races, the Compleat Rules will now feature the following classes:
- Assassin
- Cleric
- Druid
- Fighter
- Illusionist
- Magic-User
- Monk
- Paladin
- Ranger
- Thief
- Witch
After a quick check on the amount of additional pages likely to be required, especially the spell listings for the three additional spell caster classes, it seems perfectly feasible to include these in the main rules. No need to squish them into an appendix or even an add-on booklet. Any worries you may have had about splat book bloat may now abate!
Forgive me if I sound impatient, but how much longer do we have to wait! I am still very eager to see the finished book.
Consider yourself forgiven! It is never a good idea in this business to make firm promises, but all indications are that there will be an Easter release of the Compleat Rules in PDF format followed by a print-on-demand version of the Prentice Rules.
Ahem! Some time after Easter. It was originally meant to be released at Easter but I’ve just realised that I’m going on a New Zealand South Island road trip then, so I will delay the start of the art-funding Indiegogo campaign until my return. So it will be a couple of months delayed, giving it a month for the campaign and then another for the artwork to be completed (depending on the number and speed of the artists involved).
